Cleardata’s Team Trek Raises £1400 for North East Autism Society

Intrepid members of Cleardata’s team took on a 13 and a half hour journey of the Yorkshire Three Peaks last weekend (30th April) to raise over £1400 (including gift aid) for the North East Autism Society. The group works at Cleardata’s facilities in Blyth in the North East and Hawarden, North Wales.

Seven staff climbed the first two peaks including Luke Todd, Marc Liddell, Sam Young, Dirk Prior, Andrew Stafford, Joey Deakin and Jordan Collington.  The team were later joined by a further seven staff (including partners) to tackle the last peak. This included Emma Young, Jess Meikle, Nikita Wright, Isla Walls, Mikey Teare, Lauren Jarrett and Vicki Liddell.

The journey started at 7am on Saturday in Chapel Le Dale to tackle the first peak of Ingleborough.  They were met with some lovely sunny weather and fabulous views, reaching the peak by 9.30am. One member of staff commented “It was great to see everyone and catch up outside work.  We had a good laugh and thoroughly enjoyed it.  My colleagues really helped me on the whole journey, providing lots of support, encouragement, and teamwork. I would love to do it again next year!”

The group arrived in Horton in Ribblesdale around 11.30am to take on Pen-y-Ghent.  They reached the summit at around 12.30 and reported that it was a real challenge, “It’s pretty rugged with lots of rock climbing along the way. We had a welcome break for lunch at the top, before our journey down and onto the third peak.”

The group had a good four-hour trek onto the Ribblehead Viaduct, where they were met by the rest of the Cleardata squad. They commenced on their final adventure to reach the summit of Whernside.  The walkers reported that this was a steady incline, but a steep walk down.  “It was pretty wet and slippy and we were really grateful to make it down before it got dark.”

Cleardata’s Director of Digital Services Emma Young commented “It has been 10 years since Cleardata took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and with the introduction of a Sports and Social fund within the company, we decided to do it all over again in 2022. Though it was not without its highs and lows, it was awesome to complete this together as a team for a fantastic cause! I am so proud of everyone involved, especially those that completed all three peaks, and those who had never taken on anything like this before. Now that we have all almost recovered, we are already planning our next adventure!”

Kev Meikle, North East Autism Society added “We have worked closely with Cleardata over the past few years as a key business partner and supporter of NEAS’ annual cycling challenge, so it’s great to be able to support an initiative that’s been led by the company’s own employees.  We’re hugely grateful that the team chose to pledge funds raised towards our work, which enables us to continue supporting autistic children, young people, adults and their families across the region and are looking forward to supporting Cleardata in their next adventure – whatever that might be!”
